I am considering getting one. Wanted to know your thoughts. Is it useful? Do you find that you can do just find adjusting the temperature and your bill is not out ragious? and if you don't use one of these, how do you know what it is set on.
Thanks
I want to get one of these as well to end the eternal hot/cold war between me and my husband. lol He's always cold and I'm always feeling smothered by heat.
Anyway, I have a friend who has one of them but I can't remember which one she has. I'll ask her. She has 2 of them and doesn't recommend the one that allows voice programming because it is always getting reset by people talking in her house.
As for now, we have completely digital and soundless thermostats upstairs and downstairs. Fortunately, it does make a clicking sound when it turns on so we're able to bump it up or down by a few degrees without problems. The biggest challenge is that in Texas we're likely to want to run the heat one day and the air the next. lol It's challenging changing from heat to air because of how the menus on ours work. I have heard that the prices aren't all that bad when compared to regular thermoes either. For us it's really one of those things that would be nice to have but I've got other priorities right now, i.e. wood floors and a new laptop. lol
from what i've read the house or what not has to be able to support the talking models. If i ever manage to get a place that's more mine i plan to try and get one of them, but for now i have the good old knob type. Just had my mom mark the 70 degree point with a little piece of tape as that's my base line
I'm lucky that my house has an old dial type, and I can approximate the temperature by the angle of a little lever. I'd still like to have a more usable one if I ever had the chance though.
Yep, we used to mark the 75 point in all of our other houses. We didn't even think about the thermostat in this house until the change of seasons.
I have one of the VIP models. I believe the most expensive one, around $200. When we bought our house a couple years ago, I decided I finally wanted a fully accessible thermostat.
I love mine! I can set the heat, the air, there are weekday & weekend programs with 4 separate temps for the 24 hour period. I can easily turn the program off and manually set the temp.
The customer service was great, there website is easy to use, and your thermostat comes with an audio booklet. I will say, we had our fernus guy install ours, while he was here servicing our fireplace & firnus. I believe installation is simple though.
My plan is to take this with me, whenever we move.
Awesome. Thanks for this. I was looking at their website the other day so this confirms what I'm going to buy.
